BoroPharm was founded as a result of a compelling platform technology originally developed through a collaboration between Dr. Robert Maleczka and Dr. Milton (Mitch) Smith, III.

Dr. Robert E. Maleczka, Jr., PhD (Co-founder)- Dr. Maleczka is an organic chemist with over 15 years experience in discovering and developing novel, useful and commercially important organic synthetic processes. Dr. Maleczka has focused his research specifically toward the development of efficient and environmentally benign reactions and strategies, with an emphasis on supporting the synthesis of biologically important natural products. Dr. Maleczka is an author of several issued patents and patents pending and has received several awards and honors for his work in organic synthesis. In addition to his role with BoroPharm, Dr. Maleczka is a Professor of Chemistry at Michigan State University.

Dr. Milton (Mitch) R. Smith, III, Ph.D. (Co-founder)- Dr. Smith is an inorganic chemist with over 15 years experience studying the synthesis and fundamental reactivity of coordination compounds for the design of biodegradable polymers, new materials, and medicine. Dr. Smith's areas of interest include catalytic boron transfer to organic substrates, chemistry and structural features of boryl ligands, and low-coordinate main group and transition metal complexes. Dr. Smith has published numerous papers on these topics and is a frequently invited speaker at national and international conferences. Dr. Smith is an author on several issued and pending patents and is a Professor of Chemsitry at Michigan State University.

Dr. Todd Zahn, PhD, MBA (acting Chief Executive Officer)- Dr. Zahn leads business development activities for BoroPharm that include customer acquisition, sales and marketing and investor relations. Dr. Zahn has over 11 years of business development experience focused on the creation and development of new enterprise. He has been involved with managing a $1Billion investment fund focused on the early stage technology commercialization within the life sciences. In addition, He is the managing director of an intellectual asset management and investment banking organization called NexusTech Ventures, which is focused on monetizing intellectual assets from the lab to the marketplace. Dr. Zahn has been involved with the creation and growth of numerous companies focused on technology development and commercialization.

Dr. Paul Herrinton, Ph.D. (Vice President Laboratory Operations) Dr. Herrinton has more than 20 years of pharmaceutical process development experience, working for companies such Upjohn, Pharmacia and Pfizer. Dr. Herrinton  has lead projects ranging from discovery to implementation and support of full scale manufacturing processes. He is an expert in cGMP, safety, OSHA, and environmental regulations and policies. Dr. Herrinton has oversaw responsibility for process research and preparation of compounds entering into preclinical testing  all the way through phase II clinical trials. Since 2003, Dr. Herrinton has worked to develop new chemistry for preparation of novel chemical entities. The focus of his work has been on rugged, robust processes which emphasized green chemistry principals and statistical analysis to determine optimum processing conditions.

Advisory Boards-BoroPharm has established experienced and extremely well-respected scientific and business advisory boards that augment the company's management capabilities andstrengths. These boards include individuals that have deep domain expertise and networks in the industry the company serves, have lead successful pharmaceutical, medicinal chemistry and process development programs and companies, and have been honored with numerous distinguished awards including a nobel laureate scientific board member.
